Vocabulary Cards & Geometry Book

Hi there!  I know a lot of you are getting ready for spring break while some are dreading coming back!  I hope you all enjoy your 'me' time.  I know it sure is hard to come by when you have an almost 3 year old and two month old.  But, I do love every minute of it!

I wanted to share what I am working on.  I'm super excited because it's something that I am going to use in my classroom next year {can't wait}!  Right now I am working on 4th grade, but I hope to have them for every grade level.  The first to comment with a grade level will be the next one I will work on.

I also wanted to share a geometry freebie with you.  I use this with my geometry unit.  I have left it in .doc format so you can edit it to your needs.  I copy this for each student, fold, then staple it like a regular book.  You may need to change it a bit to get it to print correctly, but it is a great resource for your students.  When my students finished it, they used it to help them study for the assessment.  Just click below for the download.
{The file should open correctly if you have Times New Roman font}

Enjoy :)

Daily 5 for Math

Okay, so I've been hearing all these wonderful things about the daily 5. However, I do not teach reading; I teach math. So, I was wondering... Does anyone incorporate their own version of the Daily 5 in their classroom for math? I would love to hear your ideas and what you all do? Do you think it is linky party worthy? I can't wait to hear from you all!

Fraction Packet

Hello there!  This was probably the most time consuming packet TO DATE!!  I have seriously been working on this packet for a few weeks now.  It has a TON of graphics {fractions} and some really cool centers your students can do while you work with your small groups.  I'm excited about this packet because it is something I teach in my own classroom!  It has a really cute activity at the end that you can do with your students.  It contains Froot Loops and eating... sure to get any student excited about fractions!  Head on over to my TpT store and check it out.  I'll be doing a giveaway soon and one lucky reader will get it for {FREE}!

While you are there, check out my friend, Katie Edwards.  She is a kindergarten teacher in Barrow County.  She is new to TpT and needs some love!  You can visit her store by clicking {HERE}.  She has some really cute things in her store that are at an excellent price!

Guided Math

I now have a Guided Math page on my blog where I will post all things guided math.  Right now, it just has links to my guided math series that I posted here.  In the near future, I am going to post files and things that I use during my Guided Math time {grouping poster, anecdotal notes file, etc}.  This summer, I will be conducting a guided math training {I am so nervous about this} to grades K-3 in my school.  This is my {VERY} first time conducting a professional development class.  I'm super excited and super nervous all at the same time.  Once I get the presentation complete, I will also have it posted on my Guided Math page.  Of course, I will always post on my regular page so you can be aware of anything new I've added.  I'm looking forward to sharing my ideas with you all!

The Privilege Jar

Okay, so being on maternity leave has really got me thinking about some new fresh and fun ideas for my kiddos.  My sister is currently going to a weekly Bible study on Sunday evenings.  It's about disciplining your children.  I'm so bummed that I can't go {it started right after Hudson was born} because I feel like I could really use some help with my SPUNKY 2 year old.  Most of the things she has learned are for older children and things I can't really use at home right now.  The newest thing that she's implemented at home {and her girls love} is the privilege jar.  Basically, she sat down with her girls and asked them some things they would like to do.  Some of these include painting their Dad's toenails, drinking a coke at dinner, and some other cute things.  These are written on strips of paper, folded, and placed in a jar.  When she feels they have done something EXTREMELY awesome, she may {not always} tell them that they can pull a privilege from the jar.  This is the cutest idea, and it got me thinking..... this would be A.W.E.S.O.M.E. to use in the classroom!  I think it would be a good idea to have your students {with your approval} come up with the privileges.  When you are finished, it may look something like this!

I hope you all can gain some use from these ideas and use them in your classroom.  If you already use this or if you decide to use it, I would love to hear from you!

Math Vocabulary Freebie

Okay bloggy friends!  I said I would post some {FREE} things, and here's my first one!  You all know I love math vocabulary.  I think it is VERY important for students to understand and use the proper math vocabulary.  In fact, I am writing a literature review about math vocabulary strategies for my last research class for my Ed.S.

This is a great resource for helping your students with math vocabulary.  It uses strategies to help students remember the meaning of the words.  If you do not have a math word wall in your room.... M.A.K.E. O.N.E.!  My students refer to mine on a daily basis.  Some argue that it's giving them a crutch because it will not be there on the state test.  That is true, BUT they are exposed to these words over and over because they use them!  To me, that's most important!

Kid Friendly Standards Math

*Please note that I DID NOT create these.  I found them and think they are wonderful so now I am sharing with you!*

Enjoy these and I will post more {FREE} things soon!

Check out my latest lil' addition to TpT!
This packet comes with ten activities your students can complete (on their own :) using a 99 or 100 chart to strengthen their number sense.  Even as a 4th grade teacher, this is a skill that my students are very weak at!  This packet is now available in my TpT store.  You can also use these as a math center while you are teaching small group.  In addition to skill-based math centers, I always have a chart center so my students can stay sharp with number sense!
{ONLY $3.50 $2.50 for 10 Math Center Activities}

On a brighter note... I found a lot of awesome files on my flash drive this evening!  I am looking forward to uploading these and having them available {FOR FREE} on my blog.  Hopefully I can work on this tomorrow because I really want to give my wonderful readers some really good {FREE} stuff!

BTW- I haven't posted a lot about what we are doing in class because I'm not in class!  I'm still on maternity leave, and have 5 more weeks left.  I am so enjoying my 12 weeks off!  So... my reasoning for this long story is that I am not the type of blogger who only posts about things she has for sale.  Nor do I want to become this person!  I just honestly do not have anything at my house {school related} to be excited about.  That's why I'm eager to get those {FREE} files up ASAP.

Okay, well I hear my sweet precious baby boy crying for a feeding!

Feedback, Please!!!

I am in the process of developing a sub tub packet to help build a tub for all your sub needs!  I am trying to incude everything you may need in order to be completely organized for a sub without having to add something extra.  I need your help in coming up with some things to include.  Here's what I have so far....

  • homeroom roster
  • activity schedule for the week
  • daily class schedule
  • health concerns
  • 504 & IEP accommodations
  • subject area rosters (roster sheet for each subject if you teach different students)
  • notes from the teacher
  • notes to the teacher
  • I will also have file folders for work for each subject area
Here's the cute little title page... I'm so excited about this!

Please give me your feedback of things you would like!  If you leave feedback in the comments section, I will choose 5 lucky readers (from the comments) to get the packet for free once I finish it!
